The Elite Upper-class

A friend said it best when describing what it meant to turn 30, he told me, “You have now entered into the upper-class.”

I celebrated my birthday this past Sunday with those who I hold dear to my heart. Emilio and I started our day at church worshiping the Lord and giving Him thanks for our lives and for family and friends. The day ended with a small celebration at my favorite pizza place in midtown.

Relief from the Heat

Houston had a massive cloudburst yesterday morning.

While at work I noticed dark skies rolling in which were followed by a powerful rainstorm. I went on with my work and the next time I gazed out the window I saw cars trying to make it through high waters, people looking desperately for higher ground and various cars stalled. The rain continued throughout the day. It’s expected that more rain will fall today but thankfully at the moment we have clear skies.

On another note I would like honor those whose birthday falls in August:

Yves Saint Laurent
Tony Bennett
Tom Brady
Mother Teresa
Lucille Ball
Pete Sampras
Cantinflas
Madonna
LBJ
Warren Buffet

Update: Softball

Last week we finally played in the playoffs, which were scheduled to take place the first week of July but with all the rain it kept getting postponed. Our team played great the first game and we beat a high ranking team. Our next game started off well but then the opposing team just started hitting so well that we were unable to stop them. One of those great hits went far into left field and my teammate threw the ball in to my (I was at second base) and I missed the ball and it landed smack dab in the middle of my right thigh. Oh the stinging pain was horrible but I shrugged it off to continue playing. Needless to say we did not win the game but we did rank 4th! I of course did not imagine the bruise would be so large!

The countdown begins....

This August (August 19th to be exact) I’m turning the big 3-OH! I’ve not pondered over my age quite as much since my 21st birthday. But this time it’s different, seeing that 30 somehow means I’m really an adult – crazy! Honestly I still feel like a young twenty-year old but without all the insecurities. As I countdown the big day, instead of focusing on the negatives of aging, I shall focus on the positive such as 30 is the new 20!!!

New Balance Shoes Rock!

I've always been a fan of New Balance tennis shoes, they come in a variety of colors and have that vintage look I love. But I think I love them more seeing them on my niece, who's rocking out red ones.
