Weekend Adventures

Hat on....
Hat off.

This week was crazy for the Castillo family. Dad was working late several days and yesterday he had a 4 hour commute to work (he went to Dallas and back on the same day). He left at 3am Friday and got home at 11:30 pm...boy was he tired. So needless to say Kennedy did not get much time with her daddy this week so she and I were so looking forward to the weekend.

We had talked about having a picnic at the park and just enjoy the outdoors this weekend but late Friday afternoon I was not sure that we'd be able to go to the park because the clouds were rolling in and we were expected to have a rainy weekend. But the Lord heard my prayers and gave us the most perfect day...there was not a cloud in the sky today!

Emilio's cousin Cynthia and her son Ethan joined us in on the fun. We went to Whole Foods to grab a delish lunch and ate under the shade at Discovery Green Park. Fun was had by all.

Sometimes she talks with only one side of her mouth and its just too funny.

Bubbles

This weekend was pretty low key since in rained quite a bit on Sunday but Saturday we took Kennedy to a Gymboree class. We arrived early and had time to sit with some of the other kids and Kennedy was such a social butterfly so much so that the teacher told us "her comes trouble". I think she had more fun playing with the other kids that listening to all the singing from the teacher.

In the video the teacher was rolling balls to each child and Kennedy was scooting over to get another kids' ball so I pulled her back. She was happy once it was her turn.

The second video was taken just a few minutes ago as she has begun to pull up on the couch and even inching a bit alongside the couch...of course it ends with her falling and sadness ensues as she was unable to keep playing with her toy.

Last week we took her to the park and she loved the swing.

Mirror Mirror

Yesterday we had a busy day. In the morning we went to music class which she loved but she was more interested in playing than going along with the songs. Later that afternoon we went to the Children's Museum which has a section for little ones and we had a blast. There were lots of little ones and she constantly was yelling at them or touching them. She also learned how to open and close a door on a little toy bus and she did that again and again.

The museum brings back memories as I can recall vividly when my dad took my brother and I. I fell in love with the part of the museum that has the grocery store...its filled with small little grocery carts, cash register and lots of pretend groceries...once Kennedy gets a little bigger I'll be taking her there.

She had us laughing quite a bit especially when she starting kissing her reflection in the mirror. (The video shows her doing that) We only stayed in one section so we'll be going back to the museum as she has lots of exploration left to do.

Ma-Ma

A few days ago my precious sweetpea said Ma-Ma...and since then she's been saying it quite a bit. Not quite sure that she connects what she's saying with me being her momma but who really cares....its just cool to hear her making sounds that sound like words. Of course her papa was a bit heartbroken as he had been saying/training her to say PaPa...but to no avail she said Ma-Ma first!

Kennedy with her crazy morning hairdo...her hair is really starting to grow!

Gotta know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em

I went with Emilio two weekend's ago to the Texas Logistics Courier Association's conference in Galveston. I enjoyed laying out by the pool and going to the Strand, which is the historic part of Galveston full of shops and restaurants.

But that weekend I also enjoyed my first ever poker experience. I thought I could get by on not playing seeing that I had never played but somehow that excuse did not work...they had all the people who had never played get some lessons prior to the tournament beginning. I can say that it wasn't until halfway through the tournament I started to get a hang of the game and before you know it I was at the last table and won 7th place out of 44 people. I won a $100 Amex card and today I'm gonna go do some spring shopping thanks to the TCLA!

Up Up and Away!

This past weekend Kennedy has began to crawl and she is having such a wonderful time exploring the home beyond her little play area that we've set up for her. She is intrigued by everything that is around her. She's so curious and its been quite enjoyable seeing her expressions and she touches all that is around her.

Discovery Green

Two weeks ago our friend Jeffery came to visit us and we took him to Discovery Green (a park in the heart of Dowtown Houston). The weather was picture perfect...breezy with the sun shining. Emilio and Jeffery enjoyed maneuvering toy sailboats while Kennedy and I played.

Kennedy looking up to her daddy while he drives the sailboat.

What you don't see in this pic is Emilio giving me pointers how to drive the sailboat making sure I don't crash into another boat...the final verdict was that I was a pro and the sailboat never hit another boat but it did hit a buoy quite a few times.

Daddy and Kennedy having fun.

Jeffery concentrating big time on his sailing.
