Summer Time in the City

Yesterday I took Bradley (the 5-year old I've been babysitting) and Kennedy to Discovery Green (a park in the middle of downtown that has huge play area, mechanical sail boats, dining, and fountains for the kids to play in). Kennedy did not want to get wet but that did not stop her from having fun.
My happy girl.
My silly girl.
Hair is out of control!
I love this bathing suit.
Always standing on her toes.

Kennedy's a year old!

The day started it out with Emilio and I singing happy birthday to her, we startled her a bit but she quickly was all smiles. Later in the day we met with my brothers and mom to see her play in the kids area in the Galleria. The birthday girl was not really into playing and had several crying outbursts. Overall I think she had fun and if anything I know we wore her out as she was in bed super early.

Independence Day

Kennedy's first birthday is fast approaching and we find ourselves a bit shocked. I mean its already been a year? We now truly understand that time does fly with your children, so our hope is to make the most of every day we have with her as we can already see she's slowly seeking independence from mommy and daddy.

Our baby is looking and acting more like a toddler and less like a baby. We are sad to see the baby chapter come to an end but we're also excited to enjoy the next chapter: toddlerism.

Some of the changes we've seen in the last couple weeks are that she's standing up on her own more and at times when she's up on her own she starts to dance. She seems to like to dance and does so when she hears a catchy beat on the TV or radio. She's also more adventurous. She will scoot off the couch and yesterday she tried to get off the bed (the bed is a little too high for her to do it on her own).

When she's at the indoor park she is pretty agile moving from one slide to another. I can see in her eyes that she's eager to chase around with the other kiddos! She finally is holding her bottle and eating real food (no more baby food). She loves to laugh and we've noticed her trying to impose her will more and more...ahh so that means we've got to start introducing discipline!

We got her sunglasses and she did not want to take them off and even kept them on at night.
