Discovery Green

Two weeks ago our friend Jeffery came to visit us and we took him to Discovery Green (a park in the heart of Dowtown Houston). The weather was picture perfect...breezy with the sun shining. Emilio and Jeffery enjoyed maneuvering toy sailboats while Kennedy and I played.

Kennedy looking up to her daddy while he drives the sailboat.

What you don't see in this pic is Emilio giving me pointers how to drive the sailboat making sure I don't crash into another boat...the final verdict was that I was a pro and the sailboat never hit another boat but it did hit a buoy quite a few times.

Daddy and Kennedy having fun.

Jeffery concentrating big time on his sailing.

I've been a mom for 7 months.

Yes indeed a mom for only 7 months..... when you put it that way it seems like such little time but when I look at my precious baby it seems that time is moving quite quickly. Everyday we see more of her personality and see her growing in what she is able to do....the next milestones are huge in the respect that she will be more independent and curious to what she can see and touch.

I now understand what my mother meant by holding on to her and babying her regardless of what people said..."oh your child will be spoiled because all she will want to do is be held." that can not be further from the truth as she's already pretty wormy and wiggling to get out of momma's arms.

I know pretty deep...she's only 7 months for goodness sake...but I as a mom am growing and seeing that this journey will be full of great moments...nothing is quite as fulfilling and frankly I don't think anything else should be as she's a loan from God and we've been entrusted to take care of her and rear her in His image.

Happy 7-month birthday Kennedy.

My Morning Sunshine

Kennedy has always been a happy baby and in the morning she wakes up with so much joy. Even if we wake her up from her naps her smile is never far behind.

Its such a blessing to be her mother and I hope that happiness never ceases.

Watch out here she comes.

She is dangerous in this walker! At first she was walking backwards in it but now she zooming past me and its insane. I have to wear shoes at all times or my toes take a beating. I open the fridge and bam she's right there trying to grab anything her little hands can grasp. And throughout our day she flashes past me to follow me anywhere and everywhere that her little walker will allow.

A couple of weeks ago we had a Bible presentation at church for Kennedy. She received an engraved Bible given to her by our pastor.

Time to Play!

This past weekend we got Kennedy a new toy which she seems to be enjoying quite a bit. Its amazing how alert and active she becomes as each day passes and next week she will be 5 months old!!!

Christmas is getting super close and we can't wait until the family meets Kennedy...just keeping my fingers crossed that she won't do her yelling on the plane.

Feeding Blues

Last week as it snowed here in Houston Kennedy and I went to the doctor for her 4-month visit and shots. Her stats: 50th percentile in weight(113 lbs) and 75th percentile in height and head size. The doctor also gave me the green light to begin giving her solids and cereal.

The first couple of times as mentioned in the previous post she did great opening her mouth and taking the food in. That has not been the case the last few days, she's become quite fussy and refuses to open her mouth. At lunch she tried sweet potato for the first time. Most of it ended up outside her mouth and on the bib. It took quite a while to get through such a small portion of food. And yes those are tears in the second picture.

First Cereal Feeding

For the last two weeks we noticed that Kennedy would stare at us while we ate and she would also begin moving her lips and grabing for our food. So today we feed her cereal. At first she was not liking it much but after some time she seemed to get a little used to it.
