City Cowboys

Just in case you weren’t aware we are in the midst of hunting season.

Trust me I was unaware of this until Emilio told me he had plans to go to Chapel Hill to get things prepared for hunting season. He and Kenny went to the Oxbow and set up deer feeders among other things hunting.

Algorithms – I love them.

My math teachers where correct, math is everywhere even in my music! Math is deconstructing music to its core via Pandora’s Radio which analyzes over 400 musical attributes searching songs that you will enjoy.

It’s as simple as entering your favorite artists and let the algorithms begin. No more music ruts for me. Just think of it as your personal DJ!

Let the games begin.

Who knew that (church) flag football would be so aggressive? I didn’t. We played our second game yesterday and my partner in crime was missing because he was playing the “other” football (soccer).

Our opponents had some interesting and by that I mean aggressive players that were so competitive they were hurting themselves by running/weaving through our defensive players as if he were playing in the NFL. Remember this is flag football a no contact sport!

Needless to say our efforts were rewarded by winning the tie break. We played fairly and were victorious!

Christian by Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

Ping Pong Master

A couple of weekends ago we went to Lake Limestone with our Sunday school class. We arrived early on Saturday morning and enjoyed hanging out by the lake, eating, relaxing, watching some college football and tubing.

A highlight of our trip was that Emilio made it to the semi-finals in the ping pong tournament. He was on fire! Taking his opponents down effortlessly. It now has spun a desire to play more often. I think he and I have a game in the near future.

Sweaty.

Last week I got back in work out mode and thought it would be fun for Emilio to join me at my hot yoga class. (Hot yoga is series of yoga poses in a heated room, typically 95-100 degrees.)

I’m not sure he really knew what he was getting himself into. That is until we walked into the room and the heat hit him like a freight train. Within minutes we were both sweating profusely while the heat attacked every inch of our body.

90 minutes later we finally were done with the class and Emilio was ever so happy that it was over.

To Rock or Not to Rock.

As ticket prices soar to ridiculous heights I still find myself ever so often willing to watch a band live. That was the case a couple of weeks ago when Emilio and I went to the ManĂ¡ concert.

As we sat in the Toyota Center among the sold out stadium we could feel the crowd’s anticipation. We had a wonderful time singing our hearts out - well I sang my heart out.

Later that weekend Emilio asked me, “If I thought the concert was worth the ticket price?” My knee-jerk reaction was a strong “yes” but as I think about I’m unsure. I guess I shall do some research to solidify my position…
