Kennedy's in the House

It's been great to be back in town hanging out with my favorite little munchkin. So far she's not even attempting to walk, which in my book is fine as I know once she starts walking I'll be chasing after her. She does stand up on her own but tends to get a little scared once she realizes she's not holding on to anything. Here are few current pics of the munchkin.

She loves her books!
Yesterday she ate tofu and real peas (she hated peas in a jar but has no problem with the real thing)
I guess she's ready to go out and about.
I found her playing with the mail shortly after I had placed it on the table.

South Africa- World Cup 2010

We had talked about going to the World Cup for about a year and in my mind I kept thinking of it in an abstract way....I'm mean we really weren't going to South Africa (SA)...right? In February we purchased our tickets and it became a reality, we were going. I was a bit nervous about the trip. Would it be all about the World Cup? Would we be safe? Will Kennedy be ok without us? Malaria and so on.

But my worries were for nothing (usually that's the case). We flew through Dubai which is most certainly the long way round. On our way to SA we had a 9 hour layover so to our surprise Emirates provides you with a hotel stay and with dinner and breakfast. We made the most of our time and took a night tour of the city. You can certainly see the money oozing from everywhere as they are not shy to show it off.

When we got to SA we had to deal with the fact that my luggage was still in Dubai...as many would know that to me was my worst nightmare and to say the least I was not happy at all. Of course Emilio tried endlessly to cheer me up and told me focus on the fact that its just clothes and we need to make the most of our trip.

Our trip was full of activities from attending the Honduras' games to safaris and sightseeing. SA was much more beautiful than I expected and the people were just lovely. Our hope is that more people will travel to SA. (We'll be sending pics later.)

You're so vain

While at the mall in the shoe department my little sweet pea was restless in her stroller so I let her out of her stroller to crawl around us...but instead she b-lined to the mirror and started admiring/talking to herself....and then she crawled to another mirror and so on...she was crawling from mirror to mirror and being silly. Too bad my phone does not have video --it was hilarious.

Fun times with Grandma

Emilio has been out of town so mom and I have been having quality time and of course Kennedy loves when grandma is at the house. Today after mom got out of work we went to the park and we put Kennedy on the slide...she's still not too into the slide but she sure liked climbing up the slide.

We had fun playing for quite some time and finally had to call it quits. Tomorrow we are planning a fun day with a start at the farmer's market and then a little shopping and end it with play time at the park. Hope everyone has a great weekend. (photos aren't as crisp since these were taken with my phone)

Las Vegas Baby!

Kennedy enjoying a nap by the pool.

Two weeks ago Kennedy and I tagged along with Emilio to a trade conference in Las Vegas. I was a bit concerned about traveling to Vegas WITH a baby, but I have to say it all turned out quite well...with some careful planning of course!

While he was in the conference Kennedy and I went to a little gym and music classes which she loved. The hotel we stayed in has an impressive childcare facility so I was able to sun bath while Kennedy played with other kiddos. We were even able to sneak in some bowling with other conference attendees (the bowling alley was also at the hotel...Red Rock Casino is HUGE).

Since we rented a car most if not all our time was spent off the strip in Summerlin a suburb of Vegas which to my surprise was quite nice and chic...and best of all family friendly.

On the weekend we took a trip to Hoover Dam which was so impressive....it made us dizzy when we looked down at the dam...something we weren't expecting! We also went to Red Rock Canyon and we were impressed by how beautiful it was. Overall it was a great trip and we'll be doing it again next year as the conference will be there once again!

Mother's Day in Mexico

My grandmother Dolores was more than excited to spend time with Kennedy. We are blessed that at 95 years old she is healthy!!!

Our little princess was having a blast!

I saw a childhood friend that I had not seen in about 15 years.

We had a gentleman come serenade my grandmother...singing some of her favorite songs. In this picture are my cousins and their children.

Weekend Adventures

Hat on....
Hat off.

This week was crazy for the Castillo family. Dad was working late several days and yesterday he had a 4 hour commute to work (he went to Dallas and back on the same day). He left at 3am Friday and got home at 11:30 pm...boy was he tired. So needless to say Kennedy did not get much time with her daddy this week so she and I were so looking forward to the weekend.

We had talked about having a picnic at the park and just enjoy the outdoors this weekend but late Friday afternoon I was not sure that we'd be able to go to the park because the clouds were rolling in and we were expected to have a rainy weekend. But the Lord heard my prayers and gave us the most perfect day...there was not a cloud in the sky today!

Emilio's cousin Cynthia and her son Ethan joined us in on the fun. We went to Whole Foods to grab a delish lunch and ate under the shade at Discovery Green Park. Fun was had by all.

Sometimes she talks with only one side of her mouth and its just too funny.
